The \u201cEmpada\u201d savoury pie, chicken, tuna or veal. The \u201cPastel de Chaves\u201d veal pastry, be sure to ask if they are warm. \u201clanche Misto\u201d cheese and ham brioche pastry is a classic worth trying.<\/p>\n

If you feel like something more substantial, I normally opt for the \u201csandes de panado\u201d a Portuguese version of the pork schnitzel in a sandwich. You can choose from the varied selection of bread on display. For a lighter option I ask for the turkey version. There is also a large selection of sweet pastries, you just need to walk inside and point to the one that is staring back at you. I suggest getting an assortment of miniatures so you can try more things.<\/p>\n

This bakery has two other stores in \u201cFoz\u201d and \u201cMatosinhos\u201d. The central one being the oldest and the one I favour.<\/p>\n

You always get quality products and the service is exceptional here; The staff go out of their way to fulfil your pastry desires. With a comfortable terrace, it is the best place in town to have a mid-afternoon snack, as well as think about the fact that someone a century ago was doing exactly the same thing as you.<\/p>\n
