A rumour exists, that the counters where designed to accommodate his huge belly. This \u201cTasca\u201d has been open for 90years and the current owner \u201cAnt\u00f3nio Nogueira\u201d is an employee who started working here in 1967, he acquired it after \u201cSr. Louro\u201d passed away, he also works here with his son \u201cPaulo\u201d who eventually may take over the business.<\/p>\n

This place is known for its \u201cPresunto\u201d salt cured ham, quality meat that is easy to eat and disintegrates in your mouth due to the way it\u2019s made and finely cut. You can also order the \u201cSalpic\u00e3o\u201d smoked pork loin. They also serve baby sardines and cod fish cakes. The wines are proudly from \u201cBai\u00e3o\u201d a region notorious for agriculture and wine. The young white and red are a perfect combination with the smoked meats and served in a traditional ceramic bowl. This tiny picturesque \u201cTasca\u201d, packed with local old men at the counter, elbows firmly on the table, with the whole hams swaying over their heads, is worth a visit; their love for local quality products is unique.<\/p>\n

\u201cSr. Louro\u201d would be glad to know that the tradition is being maintained and that people can still share his love for pork. You can almost feel his presence, congratulating you for choosing pork as your meal. I challenge you to make him proud.<\/p>\n
