“Fundação José Rodrigues” was created by the Portuguese sculpture Jose Rodrigues. Two of his most well-known works include “O Cubo” The Cube in Ribeira Square and “Monumento ao Empresário” on Avenida da Boavista. He Graduated from the “Escola Superior de Belas-Artes” in Porto with 1st Class Honours and has been involved in several projects fundamental in social and artistic development of the city of Porto. Jose Rodrigues rehabilitated an old School in “Fontainhas” and created an incubator for projects that are linked to social responsibility, horticulture, creative development and art as well as having his own studio within the premises.
The Reason I am writing about this foundation is because it is a must see place if you are interested in any of the projects which are incubated there as well as the abandoned part of the school where the space has been given to several graffiti artists in Porto, so that they may express, train and show their skills. Jose Rodrigues has given so much to Porto that it was my turn to give something back and invite you to visit the premises or incubate any ideas that may further help this beautiful city.
