“Era Uma Vez em Paris” Once upon a time in Paris is a picturesque Bar/Café that is located in the centre of town. It opened quite recently, around 4 years ago and even though it has a little bit of a French theme, it is still executed in a Portuguese way. The relaxed atmosphere, affordable prices and burlesque decoration make it an ideal place to go after lunch for a drink, or for an afternoon snack instead of a full meal.
The space is shared by two proprietors, one from 12:00-19:00 and the other from 19:00-2:00. The prices change after 19:00, so I advise you to go there before that time if you want to take advantage of cheaper drinks and affordable food; the food and drink options, as well as the menu, changes after 19:00.
If you want to have a light lunch, the lunch menu includes soup, a sandwich and a coffee for €5. The speciality I would consider to be the “Alheira” (pork, chicken and bread sausage) Burger served with a fried quail egg, lettuce and mango chutney. To drink you have the standard options, wine €1.30 per glass, beer €0.8 per mini, as well as some cocktail options like jin & tonic, mojito, caipirinha and cuba libre. There is a reasonable selection of wines to choose from, with different price ranges.
Era Uma Vez em Paris is located on the “Galerias de Paris” street hence the name and theme that the owner has given to the place. This street was fundamental in the growth of the downtown central area of the city, as the first bar that opened was on this street and is actually also called “Galerias de Paris”.
Once upon a time in Paris I felt comfortable, relaxed, satisfied and the best thing about it was that I stepped outside and I was back in Porto.
